Saint Andrew’s Refugee Services (StARS) was founded in 1979 by Saint Andrew’s United Church in Cairo, Egypt. StARS is a refugee service provider that works to enhance the quality of life for refugees and vulnerable migrants through four broad program areas: education, psychosocial, legal, and community outreach. They provide high-quality services that meet the unaddressed needs of displaced people and offer a safe and inclusive space for displaced people to come together as a community. They work for refugees, with refugees, to make rights recognition a reality.

Their mission is driven by a commitment to justice and fairness. StARS works for displaced people to respect human dignity and enhance the quality of life with a vision to lead people in the direction to implement responses needed for the different forms of migration. They establish safe, just, welcoming and inclusive communities globally. They serve people from many places including Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen who have migrated to Egypt to find a better and safer existence.

StARS played host to an industry service day to bring together 30+ similarly minded organizations. The focus was to help organize resources and share services and build connections for services and service providers in linking like-minded service organizations to engage, inform and lead. As Egypt has been a landing spot for many refugees fleeing other countries in the Middle East during an incredible time of war, I was compelled to offer my services pro-bono in support of their cause. What was needed was invitational announcements for the summit, a logo for the occasion, informational materials, a PowerPoint, pull-up banners, notebook covers, a coffee mug design and labeling for thank-you gifts for the participant
